Puppy Chow

Vegan Mushroom Spinach Gnocchi

Puppy Chow is a peanut butter chocolate treat that is hard to resist. It is Crispix cereal covered in peanut butter and chocolate which is then dusted in powdered sugar.

My Mom, Nici Lawson found this recipe in 2002 from a country cooking website that no longer exists. Puppy Chow is a treat that has warmed my heart since I was a child. It is something now that always makes me smile.

Favorite peanut butter chocolatey treat

Ingredients:

  • 1 stick of butter
  • 1 16 oz bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup peanut butter
  • 1 12 oz box Crispix cereal
  • 1 bag of powdered sugar

Instructions:

  1. Melt butter, chocolate chips and peanut butter on low heat in a big pot
  2. Stirring continuously, until chocolate chips are all melted and all ingredients are blended together
  3. Remove from heat
  4. Add cereal and gently stir to coat mixture evenly over cereal.
  5. Pour powdered sugar into a large paper grocery bag
  6. Dump coated cereal into bag
  7. Fold over top of bag and shake evenly powdered sugar coated
  8. Store in air tight containers

Notes:

Large metal spoon works best for stirring mixture to coat cereal. Do not use a rubber spatual as it tends to crush the cereal.

Alternative to the grocery bag: large lidded tupperware works great for coating with powdered sugar
